Important features of the road crossing involved in any transmission line are as hereunder-

Crossing Span

Road crossing span should not exceed 250 M in any case.

Clearance to be Maintained From Road Surface

Clearance from the road surface under maximum temperature and still air conditions from the bottom conductor of the transmission line should not be less than the following values -

• For 132 KV lines - 7.0 Meters
• for 220 KV lines- 7.0 Meters
• for 400 KV lines - 9.0 Meters

Type of Tower to be Used

Suspension or tension towers depending upon site conditions may be used with normal suspension and tension insulator strings.
