Air Compressors

Ingersoll-Rand Make
Type 30, Model 15T2X

Daily Maintenance :

  • Check crank case oil level, Top up if less and replace when required, mention it separately.
  • Drain Air receivers.
  • Check, if there is any leakage of air in pipe, safety valve and joint, if there then attend immediately.
  • Check whether 3 phase supply to the motor is O.K.
  • Clean the compressors from outside for dust and oil etc.
  • Check whether safety valves operate correctly.
  • Check whether cylinder heads of all the 3 stages getting over heated, if so then attend immediately.
  • Any other defect observed.

Quarterly Maintenance (Or Approx After 500 Hours Of Running):
Important :

Before attempting any repair work on the unit be sure that starting switch is in the 'OFF' position.

70-01 Q Check and replace crank case oil (use I.O.C. Servo system 526, BR/Tallus 69, HP-Enclo-65[\SAE 30 & 40 only)
70-02 Q Drain Air receiver.
70-03 Q Operate and check safety valves,
70-04 Q Check belts wear and tension. Replace if required.
70-05 Q Blow off cylinder fins.
70-06 Q Blow off intercooler fins.
70-07 Q

Clean or replace air filter elements and cleaner. Clean with kerosene oil of petrol but before putting back make certain all elements are absolutely dry otherwise an explosion may result.

70-08 Q Check the running of electric motor.
70-09 Q

Open the cylinder heads of all the 3 stages. Check for carbonization and checking of air passage and cylinder valve assemblies. If cylinder valve assemblies are carbonized then dismantle it completely and decarbonizes all the inlet valve plate and springs and discharge valve plate and springs. Replace if found broken. Reassemble them carefully

70-10 Q Check the working of centrifugal unloaded.
70-11 Q Check the working of pilot valves.
70-12 Q Check all the hand valves for air leakage. Replace if necessary.
70-13 Q Check the pressure gauges for correct function of pressure in previous stages.
70-14 Q Check for air leakage form any joint, attend immediately if it is there.
70-15 Q Check that all the contactors and relay gre operating properly, replace if defective.
70-16 Q Check and tightened nut-bolts including that of foundation.
70-17 Q Check non return valves are working property. Dismantle and clean this.
70-18 Q Any other detect, which observed and attended.

Yearly Of Trouble Based Maintenance :

Following checks are required to be done on a compressor yearly or any of the following trouble is observed earlier.

70-19 Y

Oil Pumping:

  • t may be due to mal adjusted Pilot valve or piston rings broken or scratched or excessive end gap : Cylinder and pistons scratched/worn. scored or improper oil/oil level.
  • Replace piston rings with new. If cylinder and piston are found scratched/worn, replace with new.

70-20 Y

Knocking :

  • It may be due to scratched piston and cylinder, valves leaking or broken or carbonized, unloader parts leaking or broken, connecting rod worn or top of piston carbonized.

  • Check valves of all the 3 stages. Decarbonize valves and valve seats. Replace valve springs and guides if broken. Check connecting rod.

Dropping of Air Delivery :

70-21 Y

It may be due to mal adjusted pilot valve; Piston rings broken, valve carbonized, indicator pipe choked adjust the stroke of pilot valve; replace if valve is leaking; replace piston rings; decarbonize the valves and valve sheats. Decarbonize intercooler tube with Acid and CCL 4.

70-22 Y

Intercooler Safety Valves Operating :

  • Valves loose, broken or carbonized.
  • Decarbonize the valves of all the 3 heads, replace if found broken.
70-23 Y

Motor Tripping on Overload :

Mal adjusted pilot valve or cylinder and piston worn/scratched, broken valve spring worn out piston and cylinder be replaced with new : Broken valve springs and plates be replaced; defective connecting rod be replaced ; Check the motor and get the winding revarnished if needed.

70-24 Y

Compressor Running Excessive Hot :

  • Cylinder relief valve leaking or valves carbonized/broken, HP discharge valve leaking.
  • Decarbonize the valve and valve seats be ground. Replace if found broken. Check choking in different tubes, check HP discharge valve.
70-25 Y

Abnormal Pistion Rings or Cylinder Wear :

  • Oil viscosity too high or oil level too low or detergent type oil being used.
  • Use correct grade of oil.
  • Firms assistance be taken if felt necessary.
