Receiving instruction by the working person

Working person should take instruction only from the person who is responsible for the super visioning of that particular work.

Earthing of device at workplace

Working person should earth all devices/ lines in the all directions of space of work at workplace. Before giving permission to start the work, person taking care of work should touch himself the device to ensure it is cold and ready to work on it.

Working on elevated positions

Working person should not work on elevated positions unless he has been secured by a safety belt or swing.

Working person should stay away from the live (hot) device

In the case of hot device or partially hot device, working person should always stay away from live circuit and stand besides the device. He should never keep himself in such a position that he will get electric shock.

The person working should be familiar with the position of the circuits

Generally, it is expected from the staff that they will be fully aware of the circuits of their area. One should be very careful in identifying particular feeder/ circuit on which work has been performed, out of many (feeders) / circuits at same place.

Operation of pole oriented isolating links (Operation)-

At the time when it is necessary to operated pole oriented isolating links in main outer sub-stations, the sub-station attendant or switchboard attendant should do it by operating pole while standing on the systematic insulation platform.

Working on device where supply is from both sides

While working on any transformer or other device where there is possibility of power supply from both side [through any wire (cable)], working person should apart from taking safety related precautions, also ensure that the switch of both sides are open and locked in “off” position or it should be done by any other method that they can’t be turned off accidentally.
