Treatment for Electric shock

Following suggestions are given for the treatment of people suffering from electric power shocks: -

  • Break the circuit--
As soon as possible, the person suffering from electric shock should be freed from the touch of live conductor. For this, if the switch is located nearby, open the circuit completely, if the switch is not nearby, then by using a dry stick, dry rope, dry coat or any other non-conductor object removes it. The use of bare hands without any defence is dangerous and can cause increase in number of person suffering from accident.
  • Apparent death and giving artificial respiration-
As soon as the victim is freed from electricity, immediately loosen his clothes and without missing a second give him artificial respiration. Normally, people suffering from electric shocks become unconscious, so much unconscious that they seem to have died. But in reality, it is only apparent death that requires artificial respiration with the maximum possible speed. Call a doctor or any other assistance, but it should be done only when there is another person for assistance. Otherwise one should continue artificial respiration until either victim regains his conscious or doctor has been come. Along with this, if possible, then let another person see what you are doing so that he can also copy your actions and if it is necessary to continue the treatment for a very long time, then he can take this task in his hand to give you rest.

No sluggishness in saving the life

  • When consciousness is regained --

When he starts breathing naturally again, then the man should be kept lying down for some time. By wrapping him with the blankets or by rubbing his organs in the direction of the heart will help in increasing blood circulation.

  • Burn wounds (burns)-
Any wound from burn should be treated with a pasteuric acid or caron-oil bandage and should be covered from air.
